LOVE IS LOUD by Turbo Goth

What better way to celebrate the day of love than by doing what you love, with the people you love… under a wash of black eyeliner and cathedral-level reverb?

Valentine’s Day for us was a luminous pilgrimage north to Ithaca! Our guitars and music equipment in the trunk, vegan snacks on the brain, and that anticipatory hum that only a show can generate.

The Cinematic Drive

The drive up felt orchestrated.

A blue sky stretched endlessly above us, punctuated by white, sculptural clouds that looked like it was placed by a meticulous production designer. Bright orange sunlight streamed through the trees in deliberate beams, then later retreated playfully behind the mountain tops as if playing hide-and-seek with the horizon. There’s something about winter light in upstate New York that’s very mystical.

Thirty minutes from the venue, Paolo asked me to find a vegan spot to check out. I found a few places and was excited to head over there however, touring instincts kicked in and we decided to head straight to the venue for efficiency and just let the universe provide.

And it did!

We parked, looked up, and there was a sign that said: TACOS.

If you’ve toured a few many times before, you develop what behavioral scientists might call “pattern recognition optimism” which is the knowing that where there are tacos, there are vegan options.

Whew! We were right! Yay!

Bonus treat: On our short walk to get tacos we passed by a pie shop called: Mama Said, offering a warm savory vegan knish! The perfect prelude before the vegan tacos at Tacos CDMX: tofu chorizo, lentils, beans, onions, cilantro, finished with a mild avocado dressing. We ordered extra for post-show refueling!

(Writing about the food is inspiring me to write an upcoming post about vegan life on tour! The thrill and joy of how accessible, flavorful, and empowering plant-based travel truly is. The road overflows with incredible options, vegan finds, and delicious discoveries. I’m excited to share everything we’ve uncovered along the way.)

But back to our Goth Valentine’s night.

Soundcheck: The Anticipation

We arrived, set up, and began soundcheck.

There is a precise moment during soundcheck when excitement shifts from abstract to embodied. When you hear your own songs projected back at you through a room, balanced and powerful, it activates something inside i would probably describe as: a joyful roaring fire that’s excited to burn..? (Something like that.)

The sound engineering was impeccable. Shout out to Ben for dialing in the perfect equilibrium between guitars, vocals, and those blasting beats that make Turbo Goth what it is. When the sound is right, the performance transforms into a transcendent experience.

We set up the merch table, the doors opened, and DJ Rob Haze began spinning… all… our… favorite… goth… songs.

The venue glowed in dark haze and moody light, filling quickly with music lovers dressed in midnight hues, black-clad romantics and devoted night-dwellers drawn instinctively to the dance floor. Fog curled softly through the room as silhouettes moved in rhythm.

And then, almost like a heartbeat quickening, the room was packed and it was our turn to play.

The Show: Collective Euphoria

The show was electric.

The sound enveloped the room, thick and immersive. Fog unfurled across the stage in soft, swirling waves. Colored lights cut through the haze in luminous beams transforming the room into something cinematic and otherworldly. We all moved through the mist like living poetry.

The crowd danced to our music as if they’d known our songs for years! It was amazing to feel the connection. A phenomenon psychologists describe as emotional contagion. Energy is mirrored and movement becomes communal and the boundary between performer and audience dissolves.

That’s the magic of goth night its like a nostalgic ritual.

Souvenirs and Artifacts

After the show, we had sold out all of our medium and large T-shirts!

Right now, our merch is extra special: LIMITED EDITION, HAND DRAWN “TURBO GOTH” BAND SHIRTS.

These shirts are actually, factually artifacts from this era of the band!

I might make a few more medium and large shirts, but who knows how long we will have them available!

(You may want to grab one at the next show while they’re still available!)

The Night Expands

DJ Law carried the momentum forward, spinning more of the tracks that live in our bloodstream. And we danced and danced and danced. Turbo Goth connected with so many beautiful souls that night and shared an unforgettable time with everyone in the room. A wonderful night of music, movement, and connection that lingered long after the last note.

Before heading back to New York City, Paolo managed to catch a Chinese restaurant just before closing. Vegan General Tso’s. Mapo tofu. I still had tacos in reserve. Refueled and glowing, we began the voyage home. Maybe tired in body, but definitely electrified in spirit.

Gratitude and What’s Next

Thank you to Nocturnal Cafe, Practice. At and Goth Night for hosting Turbo Goth so beautifully. We felt valued. We felt heard. We felt loved.

And now, back in New York, we’re already preparing for the next show:

February 19 at Arlene’s Grocery. Get your tickets before they sell out!

Because if Ithaca taught us anything, it’s this:

Love is loud.

Love is tofu chorizo at midnight.

Love is a room full of strangers moving like they’ve always known each other.

And we are ready to do it again!

See you on Thursday!

Love, Sarah and Paolo

Law of Love — A Song Celebrating the Power of Love by Turbo Goth

Imagine life illuminated by love.

Imagine a world where love guides all actions. Every word spoken, every hand extended, every choice made would carry the vibration of empathy and understanding. In this world, heaven blooms on earth. Joy emerges in ordinary moments, creativity flows effortlessly, harmony thrives, and invisible threads connect every heart.

This song celebrates that vision. Love manifests as an active force, a rhythm, pulse, and breath that carries us through creation. It inspires transformation, uplifts energy, and unites all experience. It calls each listener to step fully into their own light and to honor the light in every being.

Through “Law of Love,” we celebrate the law that transcends all others: the law that frees, the law that elevates life, the law that connects hearts, the law that transforms life into a symphony of harmony, compassion, and joy. This song invites everyone to embrace love as the guiding force, awakening presence, and illuminating every connection.

This song is our message, our meditation, and our invitation: to let love guide, to let love align, and to experience the heaven that unfolds when hearts beat together in its rhythm.

“Love is the breath that carries us through creation. In every rise, in every echo, in every heartbeat — love is the vibration that unifies all experience.”

Join us in the law of LOVE. Let it guide your choices, awaken your presence, and illuminate every connection. When love becomes the law we live by, every moment shines, every heart opens, and life becomes a reflection of heaven on earth.

Turbo Goth in San Francisco: Shows, Songs, and Stories by Turbo Goth

San Francisco is calling, and Turbo Goth was thrilled to answer! Last Month, we’re made our way to the City by the Bay for two electrifying shows: one at the Brick and Mortar Music Hall and another at the vibrant San Francisco Music City. Alongside our friends from Modern Future, we’ll celebrate music, creativity, and the unforgettable spirit of San Francisco.

But before we hit the stage, let’s talk about the rich musical legacy of this iconic city and some of our favorite songs that capture its essence.

San Francisco: A Musical Inspiration

San Francisco has inspired countless musicians and artists, becoming the backdrop for some of the most famous songsin history. Whether it’s the nostalgic lyrics of Tony Bennett’s "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" (featuring those little cable cars), or Otis Redding’s soulful "Dock of the Bay" (co-written with guitarist Steve Cropper), this city’s beauty and charm are undeniable. It’s no wonder San Francisco is often called the "Paris of the West".

Here are some of our favorite San Francisco-themed tracks that we’ll have on repeat during our visit:

Our Favorite Songs About San Francisco

1. "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" by Tony Bennett

Arguably the official song of the city, Tony Bennett’s timeless ballad paints a vivid picture of San Francisco’s beauty, from the Golden Gate Bridge to the cool, crisp air. Its elegance and simplicity make it a perfect anthem for the Bay Area.

2. "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" by Otis Redding

Written in Sausalito and released after Otis Redding’s tragic plane crash, this song captures the reflective mood of staring out at the San Francisco Bay. Its soulful tone and connection to the National Recording Registry ensure its lasting legacy.

3. "Fake Tales of San Francisco" by Arctic Monkeys

This energetic track from the UK band humorously critiques those who romanticize San Francisco without truly knowing it. It’s a reminder that even the "cold wind" and "Frisco town" have their own raw, authentic beauty.

4. "San Francisco Nights" by Eric Burdon and The Animals

With its laid-back vibe, this track offers a psychedelic take on the city during the Summer of Love, evoking images of young people wearing flowers in their hair and gathering at Fisherman’s Wharf.

5. "San Francisco Bay Blues" by Peggy Lee

This upbeat song is a classic that’s been covered by artists from Jerry Garcia Band to Eric Clapton. Its catchy tune and heartfelt lyrics celebrate the city’s enduring charm.

Playing in the Heart of San Francisco

While soaking in the rich musical history, we’re also proud to contributing our own chapter. Here’s where we played live:

  • Brick and Mortar Music Hall
    Date: December 13

  • San Francisco Music City
    Date: December 14

Joining forces with Modern Future, we promise to deliver a show that celebrates San Francisco’s vibrant music scene while bringing our signature Turbo Goth energy.

Exploring the City

Beyond music, we can’t wait to explore San Francisco’s landmarks. From walking across the Golden Gate Bridge to enjoying the views at Grace Cathedral Hill, this city offers endless inspiration. We’re also eager to visit Market Street, Fisherman’s Wharf, and perhaps find time to catch some live radio playing the Beautiful South or Judy Garland’s classics.

Join Us in next time we visit San Francisco!

Whether you’re a fan of Tony Bennett, the Village People, or indie hits like "Fake Tales of San Francisco", this city has a song for everyone. Come vibe with us as we bring our music to one of the most iconic music cities in the United States. Let’s make it a trip to remember, filled with unforgettable tunes, connections, and experiences.

See you soon, San Francisco!
